Our September meeting included an interesting and educational program presented by Paul Katich on how to use local "dirt" to create pottery. Paul's specialty is making pots to support his passion - growing and creating bonsai trees.
The November meeting will be just as interesting with Michael Cottrell demonstrating how to make an amphora. Come meet with us and connect (or reconnect) with your friends and fellow clay enthusiasts. I hope you can join us.
The meeting begins at 2:00 p.m. and we finish with our pot luck dinner. Bring a dish if you can and have a good time socializing with us!
Contact the Clay Network secretary at claynetwork2014@gmail.com for details about the location.

Meeting this Sunday in Atlantic Beach
At our meeting in May, Mary Ellen and Robin demonstrated the Obvara process that they learned at a Potter's Council workshop.
Next up is a presentation to be given by Sandy. Sandy will be showing us what she learned at a Potters Council two day "Altered Approach to Clay" conference she attended in Nashville, TN last September. She has a treasure trove of tips and techniques and step-by-step instructions on taking thrown forms, then stretching, altering, carving and finishing them. She will be sharing the highlights of that information and then demonstrate two of the techniques.
Come meet with us on Sunday and connect or reconnect with your friends and fellow clay enthusiasts. Please bring some of your best pieces to be displayed in the Beaches Branch Library !
Learn something new as Sandy demonstrates. Join in our lively discussion.
The meeting begins at 2pm, then we will enjoy Sandy's presentation. We will finish up with a pot luck meal. Bring a dish to share if you can, and have a good time socializing with us!

March Meeting Sgraffito Mini Workshop
We have an exciting program planned for our March meeting on Sunday, March 9. Maura will be conducting a mini-workshop on sgraffito techniques. Clay Network is providing the clay and glazes as just one of the many benefits of being a member of this organization. Bring your tool kit with a wire stylus or small triangle, along with a design layout on paper for a 6" x 6" tile. We'll be on a porch so you may want to bring a jacket or sweater. The workshop will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the business meeting will start at the end of the workshop (around 3:30).
If you're interested in joining Clay Network, contact us at claynetwork.com@gmail.com for more information about our organization and how you can join.
