Hello Potters!
Lots of catch-up to do on Clay Network! When the pandemic hit, the Clay Network, like so many other associations and groups, went on hiatus. In January, Clay Network held their first public meeting in two years! Fortunately, the fires were still burning and Clay Network is back!
Our March meeting was held at the Jacksonville Pottery Studio, and was well attended. During this meeting, the group voted on a new board, and we are happy to announce our new board members:
Jill Kolb - President
Angie Hindle - Vice President
Mary Matheson - Treasurer ( she is staying until the end of the year, interested parties, please apply!)
Laura Burgess - Secretary
Kate Thomes - Past President ( she is staying on to help guide the new board)
(l-r: Mary Matheson, Kate Thomes, Laura Burgess, Angie Hindle, Jill Kolb)
Our upcoming meetings were announced, and a very exciting workshop was also introduced.
May Meeting - May 15, 2 - 5 pm at the Atlantic Pottery Supply on 1904 Debarry Ave. in Orange Park. We'll have our meeting and potluck (don't forget to share a dish and bring your utensils) and a demo.
July Meeting - the group also discussed whether or not to hold a July meeting and the vote was for a July Meeting - location and date/time TBD
September Workshop - Clay Network will be hosting Stacy Morgan for a two-day workshop at the Atlantic Pottery Studio. Mark your calendars for Sept. 17-18. More information and pricing will be coming soon.
November Meeting - TBA
After our potluck and great conversation, Cat Plesko of Jacksonville Pottery Studio demonstrated how to tackle a 25 lb. block of clay and make a large vessel. She made is look easy, but there is a trick to it, along with some strong arms.
If you want to be a featured artist on our monthly newsletter, you must be a member. Still the best price in town at only $25/individual or $40/couple. Contact Mary Matheson for more information.
